I have decided that Thanksgiving is my favorite Holiday. I love the decorations, the change in the weather and change in color that comes with the season. Even though Texas does not get the color changes that other parts of the country gets, every now and then you will look out into the hills and see one lonely tree that has changed color and it is popping out.
O.K., it is time for some updates.
I drove by the site yesterday and the abatement company was there to begin their work. The fence is up around the building and when I drove by last night there was a bunch of junk piled up outside. I am going to go by again and take a picture this morning but here is a before picture.
Over the weekend I stitched on the big Santa, determined to make my goal of getting him finished by the time the store is open. I worked on the tree and got the first layer done. It is random free-form fly using 1 ply of watercolors. It was tricky getting around the stars and ornaments. I had painted out the red hearts that were on it but left the stars and balls.
I have another piece to show off for a customer. Phyllis O'Reilly is one of our customers that has been coming into the store forever. She is a beautiful stitcher and a real gem. A couple of weeks ago when I was in San Antonio picking up my Santa, Bonnie showed me the Cowboy Nutcracker that she was framing for Phyllis and what she was going to do. I knew it was going to be cute but this is great. Now keep in mind that we have 2 great artists talents in this piece. Phyllis who stitched it and Bonnie who framed it. As most of us do, Phyllis just let Bonnie do her thing. She put a piece of knitting thread inside the edge that has a little bit of metallic in it.
I hope everyone has a wonderful day and please be safe if you are traveling. I am traveling next door to my neighbors. We share in the cooking every year and it really has become a tradition with us. Then we will watch the Texas A and M/Texas game in the evening. Gig'em Aggies.....
